Global Seafoods is now more than 30 years old but our involvement in the Australian seafood industry goes back to the 1950’s when Robert “Bob” Rylands and his father James started fishing for famous Western Australian Rock Lobster.

After 25 years fishing for lobster, scallops and wetline fishing along the Western Australian central north coast, Bob and his wife Judith sold the fishing operation and moved their then young family south to Perth.

For the next 10 years Bob & Judy ran a large suburban hotel and restaurant and a number of small businesses, but Bob couldn’t stay away from the sea and he found himself back trading seafood for a number of local producers to the USA & the developing Asian markets.
Within a few years Bob established his own seafood trading company, Global Seafoods Distributors Australia PTY LTD.

Initially Bob travelled up & down the west coast sourcing seafood products and eventually spent long periods of time overseas helping small seafood producers to catch, process and add value to their resources. Nowadays these producers are some of the biggest in the world and continue to work closely with us.

In 1996 Bob’s son Kim joined Global and ten years later after the sudden passing of Bob, Kim took over as General Manager. In 2016, Kim’s son James joined the company as marketing coordinator.

After very humble beginnings Global Seafoods now has a full time staff of 23 passionate professionals around Australia.

Global now offers top quality products and service the Australian foodservice market with premium products for chefs and the national retail market with a large range of easy to prepare retail products in our attractive new packaging.

The Global team have enjoyed strong growth over the years and we look forward many more years of providing quality, service, innovation and growth.
