New Zealand Greenshell Mussels

Sustainably farmed, these whole Greenshell Mussels are grown and harvested in New Zealand’s crisp, cold waters, then snap frozen to lock in freshness and taste.

PREPARATION & COOKING INSTRUCTIONS

EASY COOK IN 8 MINUTES

  • Keep frozen at -18°C and once defrosted use within 2 days. Do not refreeze.  

  • Once thawed keep below 5°C and consume within 48 hours. Do not refreeze 

  • Product must be thoroughly cooked before consumption. Cooking times may vary, these cooking times are a guide only. 

  • Cook frozen or place Mussels in a bowl, cover and thaw in refrigerator overnight. Use within 24 hours of thawing, once thawed do not refreeze. 

  • Before Cooking:  

    • Rinse and scrub the Mussels under the running cold water then place in a colander or bowl. 

    • Debeard the Mussels - grab the beard between your thumb and forefinger and give it a tug downwards towards the hinged-end of the mussel shell and pull firmly until it comes out. Discard the beard. 

STOVE TOP: 8 MINUTES

  • Place Mussels in a bowl of cold water for 5 minutes prior to adding to the pot. 

  • Add preferred choice of liquid (wine, broth, etc) and Mussels to a sauce pan, place lid on pan to cover and bring to the boil. Reduce heat to simmer for 5 -8 minutes.
